One of the best ways to understand how design decisions impact on the ground is to go and see things in flesh. The North Northants Joint Planning Unit (NNJPU) run a series of events aimed at getting officers out to see local projects so they can see how they perform. TransForm Places joined the NNJPU and its officers on these trips to offer expert advice and observations, aiding discussion on the principles of urban design. On our latest trip we spent time looking at some of the 2009 Excellence Awards entries including one of the winners, Stanwick Lakes.
